Areas of gusty winds, heavy rain leading to flash flooding, and high surf continue this afternoon across portions of the state as Tropical Storm Lala continues to move away from the islands. Areas of heavy rain are still occurring in portions of Maui and Kauai County. Rain rates have decreased across the Big Island. The center of Tropical Storm Lala is located southwest of Kauai and will continue to move west away from the state through this evening. Tropical Storm Warnings have been canceled for Maui County, Oahu, and surrounding coastal waters. The Tropical Storm Warning is still in effect for Kauai County and surrounding coastal waters. Impacts can extend well beyond the center of the tropical storm, so continue to stay aware of the latest forecast and current weather conditions today.

Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage areas. Locations could realize roofs peeled off buildings, chimneys toppled, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, large tree tops and branches snapped off, shallow-rooted trees knocked over, moving vehicles blown off roads, and small boats pulled from moorings.
